Training Philosophy

I believe everyone benefits from accountability and structure, which is why I am passionate about coaching. I also believe in the importance of balance in training. I will never attempt to reorganize an athlete's schedule but will work with them to maximize their training. Moving a specific workout to a different day is never an issue. I aim to encourage athletes weekly and provide personal insight and feedback on their progress. Each athlete will have a goal that is meaningful to them, and I am committed to helping them achieve it. While running can be serious at times, I firmly believe in making it fun and helping athletes learn to enjoy the process. This is something I will continuously emphasize.

Beyond Running 

I typically do not prescribe specific strength training exercises during the week, but I encourage athletes to pursue it and will guide them on the appropriate times for lifting and cross-training. If an athlete sustains an injury, I will work closely with them (and their doctor) to help them get back on track. Additionally, I am happy to discuss nutrition (fueling on race day and during races), recovery, gear, and other topics, depending on the specific needs and interests of the athletes.



Feedback + Platforms

I utilize “Strava” and/or “Final Surge” (depending on the athlete’s preferences) to best coach and work with athletes. With these, I can closely monitor your training and track how you’re progressing. It is very helpful when you provide feedback on your runs to keep me updated on how you're doing. Feel free to reach out to me via text/email! I will check in at least once weekly for individual coaching, but the more we communicate, the better! I will also offer bi-weekly phone/video calls if that is helpful! 

End Goals + Races 

While I am happy to give suggestions on goals for athletes, my purpose is to help each athlete achieve their own goals. Typically an athlete will provide me with a goal race distance or time and we will plan around it. If an athlete is looking to get back into running in general we can plan for that as well. I will naturally encourage athletes to pursue a goal so that we have a marker for success.
